Worship Ministers

Sunday worship can't be done alone. There are opportunities for members and friends of Shepherd of the Valley to serve in a variety of capacities for each worship service. This is a very important ministry for making our services worshipful, serene, well organized experiences and the center of our spiritual life at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. 

Ministers who are needed for the two regular services each Sunday and visible during services are:

8 — Ushers

2 — Assisting Ministers

4 — Acolytes

4 — Welcome Hosts

4 — Welcome Table Greeters

2 — Children's Message Presenters

2 — Readers/Lectors

2 — Altar Guild Members

Those not so visible but very essential are:

2 — Children's Church Leaders

2 — Children's Church Helpers

3 — Nursery Attendants

2 — Communion Bread Providers

2 — Sound-System Technicians

39 in Total

To cover all these activities we need 39 or more people each Sunday. Additional ministers are required for extra services on Ash Wednesday, during Holy Week, on Easter, Thanksgiving Eve and Christmas. It is easier for every minister if there can be a 2 month rotation. So everyone in the congregation is invited to serve in one of these positions. The schedules for two months is printed in the monthly Visitor so that conflicts can be resolved in plenty of time. Praise God in His Sanctuary Psalm 150.
