30th Anniversary Party — See You Sunday

A combination “30th Anniversary” and “Sharing the Good Word about Jesus” Party, SOV-style!

The 5th annual See You Sunday event is just around the corner.  The theme this year is in recognition of Shepherd of the Valley’s upcoming 30th Anniversary, which actually occurs at the end of October.  What are we going to do?

  1. Fall Kickoff: Provide information to both congregational members and visitors about upcoming SOV programs, e.g., Sunday School Services; Confirmation Program; and, Group Activities.
  2. Non-Member Outreach: Again, focusing closely on the local, surrounding neighborhoods to introduce those families to SOV and to invite them to join us in any of our many ministries.
  3. Have Great Fellowship & Lots of Fun!

How are we going to do this?  With a Party…lots of food, games, entertainment…you name it.  This will be lots of fun for big (really big) and little kids, alike.

Who’s making this happen?  Well, with the party we envision, we’re going to need a whole lot of you to come and join in the fun…and, while you’re at it, help us do what needs to be done.  The planning is currently being done by Matt Huston, Pat Witt and Dale Seay (chair).  This is one of those SOV events that can just as easily use the help of our Youth as much as our Adults (the “really big” kids).

And?  You’ll be hearing, and seeing, lots more about this party over the next few weeks.  In the meantime, be on the lookout for “sign-up” sheets, whereby you can volunteer anything from helping out for 30 minutes “the day of” to bringing mounds of cupcakes for the legendary Cupcake Walk.  We also need 2-3 people who’d like to help in our planning (contact Dale Seay).

EXACT LOCATIONS FOR EACH EVENT will be posted around the church building.  Activities will be indoors, unless weather permits us to move outside.  However, crafts will remain indoors.  We are all praying for good weather!

Games & Crafts
Crafts & Games Games will include some inflatable fun for younger children and a bungee run for older children and youth.  We’ll also have a cupcake walk, beanbag toss, and much more.  Craft tables will be indoors, including one to decorate a bag to bring home all the games prizes you’ll win!

BBQ
Barbeque The Faith Servant Team is providing the feast for the day—grilled hamburgers and hot dogs plus side dishes.  Yum!  Come watch and encourage our “grill team” in action on the North end of the church building.  Then go in to the Fellowship Hall to gather up all the great food and beverages.

Door Prize Baskets
Prize Basket Baskets have been created by the Ministry Teams of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.  Each has a story to tell about the ministry of the team.  Come at 1:35 to hear the story of each basket and be present for the drawing.  You won’t want to miss a minute of it!
