Shepherd of the Valley Preschool

Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church sponsors and operates an onsite Preschool for three, four and five year olds.

Preschool Program:

We are a Christ-centered preschool that provides a loving environment, which gives the children the opportunity to learn and grow emotionally, intellectually, physically and socially.  We believe that children learn through hands on experiences and we emphasize how God created each of us to be unique and special.

Years of Operation and Enrollment:

The 2007 – 2008 school year is our 26th year in operation.  We are blessed to have three, well furnished classrooms to do ministry in.  We offer four three-year old classes, six four-yeor old classes, and one pre-k class.  The total enrollment is 168 children.

Preschool Ministry Team:

Our preschool is a ministry of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church.  A ministry team governs it.  The team leader is Georgia Girvan and served by Pat Gieseke, Lori Hagen, Jeanette Meusch, Judy Torgerson, and Karla Wold.  These congregation members have given of their time and talent to be committed to this ministry and have worked toward a quality program that is a mission outreach into our community.

Pastor Support:

Pastor Jim Grunow plays a very important role in the preschool. He attends our parent orientation night before school starts and invites the preschool families to feel welcome at Shepherd of the Valley. He also offers any services that he or the church may provide for our preschool families. Pastor Jim also individually greets preschool families as they arrive for school on that day when he has chapel time for the children. The children attend chapel once a month and we sing and pray together and learn about how much God loves each of us.

Staff:

Our preschool program would not function effectively without the dedication and caring of our entire staff.  The staff members who are lead teachers are: Connie Eichhorst, Sarah Luce, Bonnie Major and Maureen Ollivant.  The assistant lead teachers are Deana DuVall, Cindy Hassell, Linda Twitchell, Dena Miranda and Mimi Odneal.  The Director is Sandy Scott.

Commonly Asked Questions:

• Registration is in February (call in January for the exact dates)
• Tours are offered with an appointment
• Children must turn 3 years of age by August 31st
• All children must be toilet trained
• Children have to turn 5 years before December 31st for the Pre-K class
• Class enrollment is limited to 14 in the 3 year old classes
• Class enrollment is limited to 16 in the 4 year old and pre-k classes
• 3 year old class is 2 mornings or afternoons per week
• 4 year old class is 2 or 3 mornings or afternoons per week
• Pre-K class is offered 4 afternoons per week
