Stained Glass Windows

The windows are designed to show a time progression beginning with the stories from the Old Testament and continuing through the stories of the New Testament, and showing representations of the Spirit of God moving through and being present in all times and places and in our lives today.

The stained glass windows were created by Edie Martin, a stained glass artist who is a member of our congregation.

Stained Glass Window #1 — “Beginning”
	God saw everything that he had made, and indeed, it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning, the sixth day. Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all their multitude. Genesis 1:31-2:1
Stained Glass Window #2 — “Guidance”
	The Lord went in front of them in a pillar of cloud by day, to lead them along the way, and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light, so that they might travel by day and by night. Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people. Exodus 13:21-22
Stained Glass Window #3 — “Sacrifice”
	With what shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high? Shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves a year old? Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with then thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? Micah 6:6-8

	A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots. Isaiah 11:1
Stained Glass Window #5 — “Ministry”
	Jesus said to them, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” They replied, “We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish.” And he said, “Bring them here to me.” Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. Stained Glass Window #6 — “Atonement”
	Then Jesus cried again with a loud voice and breathed his last. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks were split. Matthew 27:50-51
Stained Glass Window #7 — “Pentecost”
	When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Acts 2:1-2
Stained Glass Window #8 — “New Heaven, New Earth”
	Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. Revelation 21:1 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, bright as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb through the middle of the street of the city. On either side of the river is the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit each month; and the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. Revelation 22:1-2
