Pastor Jim Grunow
As Pastor at Shepherd of the Valley, I believe I am called to lead God's people in "gathering, empowering and sending persons into an ever-changing world as disciples of the living Christ."
I grew up in Monroe, Michigan in the Lutheran part of the Body of Christ. I graduated from Wittenberg University in 1968 with a B.S. in Business Administration and from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis with a Master of Divinity in 1973 and have served at SOV for over eight years. I have been married to Vicki for eleven years. Between us we have five children. I enjoy spending my free time walking, hiking, playing golf, watching movies and plays, reading and eating delicious meals at local restaurants. It will come as no surprise to many of you that I am not mechanical, have no "handy-man" skills, computers mostly confuse me, and am a continuing "work in progress."

Kelley Mata, Minister of Church and Community
As Minister of Church and Community Kelley is focused on facilitating opportunities for Christian community within our church congregation and seeking ways in which we as a church and as individual Christians, can be connected to and vibrant participants in the larger community in which we live. Kelley is involved with the development of the church's website and finding new ways to utilize the web to enhance our congregational communication.
Kelley
completed a BA in Biblical Studies and a MA in Exegetical Theology. He
has previously ministered as a pastor in other Christian
traditions. He has a love for teaching and helping Christians think critically and honestly about God and their faith. Kelley believes that reaching out to and caring for the world
around us, is fundamental to following Jesus. Kelley has a passion for
understanding culture, specifically the shift in the western world from
a "modern" expression of knowing and believing to an increasingly
postmodern perspective. He has an interest in all things philosophical and
theological as they relate to this change. Kelley enjoys spending time with his wife and kids, reading. He loves hunting, fishing, camping and being out in the wild.

Ryan Batcheller, Music Coordinator
I am honored and blessed to have served
Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church since March of 2008. As Music
Coordinator, I direct the choir, praise band, and facilitate special
music at S.O.V. I completed a Bachelor of Music Education degree
from Central Washington University, a Master of Music degree in Choral
Conducting from Michigan State University and I am a Doctor of Music
Arts candidate at Michigan State University. In addition to my
responsibilities at S.O.V., I am also the Director of Choral Activities
& Guitar Studies at Centennial High School in the Meridian School
District. I have been a member of Male Ensemble Northwest (www.maleenemblenorthwest.com), a professional vocal ensemble, since 2004
where I perform and participate in choral workshops around the Pacific
Northwest. The educational mission of M.E.N. has always been to
inspire, motivate and instill a love for choral music arts.
My wife, Laura, and my two children,
Charlie and Aiden, are a constant blessing and source of inspiration.
God has truly touched our lives through the support system of love and
dedication in our family. Through the abundant gifts that God
has afforded me, I look for the opportunities to share them with others.

Greg Bohlken, Youth, Family & Education Ministry Director
I'm blessed to serve God with the people at Shepherd of the Valley. Youth, Family, and Education Ministries are right up my alley. I graduated from Valparaiso University in Indiana with a major in Communication & Public Relations. I spent my college summers as a counselor at a Christian camp. I've spent time living in Tennessee, Ohio, Indiana, and Idaho. I was previously the youth & family minister at Faith Lutheran Church in Knoxville, Tennessee where I met my beautiful wife Sandra. We enjoy movies, walks, bike rides, and playing Wii. My parents live in Caldwell where my dad is a Lutheran pastor. Some of my most significant faith-forming experiences have happened on mission trips - I love taking teenagers to areas of need and watching how God grows us through serving others.

Debbie Mallis, Office Manager
My job title is Office Manager and I have worked at Shepherd of the Valley since 2003. I am the person most likely to greet you when you come to the church office or call on the phone. My duties include putting together both the Weekly and monthly Visitor, keeping records of members and visitors in our church database, sending out the email prayers, mailing certificates, and more.
I grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and I'm a life-long member of the United Methodist Church. I graduated from the University of California at Davis with a B.S. in Zoology. I worked in labs doing behavioral research with monkeys at the primate center at Davis and SRI International in Menlo Park. I met my husband Bob at a Methodist church in Palo Alto; we have been married 29 years. We moved to Boise in 1983 and have two daughters, Laura (24) and Erin (21).
Most of my work in Boise has been volunteer work: church committees, Idaho Food Bank, CROP Walk, Girl Scouts, dance team parent, etc. I enjoy hiking, camping, gardening, reading, photography, tap and square dancing and genealogy.
