Getting Connected to Shepherd of the Valley

Shepherd of the Valley (SOV) Lutheran Church welcomes all to worship and commune with us! We want you with us, whether you are only visiting the area for a weekend, want a place to worship occassionally or need a new church family to grow in faith with. We encourage those willing to commit themselves to upholding the mission and vision of SOV to attend our Discipleship 101 class and become an official active member.

Discipleship 101 Classes

Discipleship 101 is a six week class held on Sundays during the regular Sunday School hour. It is led by Pastor Jim Grunow. This class is primarily intended for those who are moving toward our ministry here at Shepherd of the Valley and would like an experience to help them sort out what it might mean for them to officially join this congregation in doing God's mission.

This is the means by which one eventually joins this congregation's ministry, whether you have been baptized or not, whether you have been a life long church member, including Lutheran, or not. We warmly invite EVERYONE who is moving toward our ministry, regardless of background, to take this class as a first intentional step of identifying more deeply with God's Mission at this place.

Those who are already members here are invited to attend as well. The feedback Pastor gets from "long-time Lutherans" is that this class helps clarify, even for them, what the "Lutheran take" on the Christian faith is really all about.
