How can you connect with our faith community?

Like any other community to which one might enter, connection with this faith community is all about relationships and the common shared experiences in which the development of such relationships can occur.

At Shepherd of the Valley we define ourselves  by the larger reign of God to which we belong.  The call of God is compelling and continual, a rhythm with which we are constantly learning to move in concert.  In the story by the popular author C.S. Lewis entitled Prince Caspian, there is a point  in the story when a character, Aslan, (the lion king and a characterization of Christ) roars loudly.  That roar travels out and brings an unexpected and exciting response.  The forest around him begins to stir and from within it comes a flood of creatures, who are responding to Aslan's call.  They pour out of the woods and begin to dance about Aslan, they party and celebrate this great king.  Those whom have been traveling with Aslan are surprised at all who have answered the lion's call.  They are somewhat uncertain about how to respond to those who answered the lion's roar, yet they join in the dance and the celebration with them.

Similarly, we at Shepherd of the Valley view ourselves both as a people responding to the call of God and joining in the dance with all who have gone before us and who currently dance because of God's call in this world.  That call has gone out and continues to go out in as many ways as there are people to hear it.  We gather to encourage one another as we journey in holy discovery of all that God is roaring into his world today, as disciples (learners and followers) of Jesus, who is God's ultimate and complete message to humanity.  Wherever you are in your religious faith, your ideas or understanding of God, we would certainly enjoy your company on our common journey of Holy Discovery, listening for the roar of God together.

There are a number of ways in which one might find a common connection with this faith community. A few of those connections are listed below:

Our Community gathers to worship together on Sundays and all are welcome to attend and participate. We have two worship gatherings 9:00 AM and 11:15 AM.  At either of these gatherings you will find a warm and welcoming group of people from a myriad of backgrounds coming together to travel further down the road of encountering God through Word and Sacrament.

One might join us as we seek to serve people in the larger community of Boise.  We join the Boise Vineyard Christian Fellowship on the second Sunday of each month and feed any who are hungry in Julia Davis park.

Or, come with us to serve Idaho interfaith Sanctuary every second and fourth Thursday evenings each month, where three adults help check in the residents (men, women and families) who currently find themselves homeless and two others work with the children in the family shelter.

The are other ways to join us in serving others.  Follow this link for other ways in which we seek to serve our community in Boise, the US and around the world.

Other ways to connect with our Faith Community are plentiful: Preschool, Children's Sunday School, Adult forums on Sunday Mornings, Choir and Praise Band, Men's Ministry, Women's Ministries, Youth Ministry, Ministry with Families,
